It is still unusual to talk about dreams in detail. You can see an amusing
example of this in the introduction of the
film The Way of the Dream. There
is agreement that dreams are inspired creations from the unconscious and are
therefore connected to our emotional world. Through
continuously
guided small groups |
we want to create an atmosphere of trust in order to be able to tell dream
content without hesitation in such a protected setting. Free associations,
surprising ideas, or spontaneous inner images can subsequently stimulate
discussions.
In any case, dream work is not a trivial matter, so there are certain
guidelines and requirements for participation that are explained before a
group session. Because: a dream group is by no means a substitute for therapy,
nor is it the place to give the dream teller direct advice. Rather, we want to
encourage participants to experience the dream as if it were their
own.
"...If this were my dream, I would..." |
could, for example, be
a guidepost that leads to
indirect feedback at the end of a session when the participants share their
own inner reactions. Although sharing one's own dream with others is always a
challenge, experience shows that many dreams are closely connected to the
group collective.
So the dream
of an individual belongs also to everyone sharing in it. |
